Battlefield 4 leaked details reveal 64 player maps, 3 factions, more

A huge list of leaked BF4 details reveal 64 player maps, 3 factions, Commander feature, and more.

Battlefield 4 details

We’ve got an exclusive scoop on some Battlefield 4 features. First of all, it looks like the game will stick with 64 players, and overall, the game appears to be very similar to BF3. If the rumors are true, we’ll be getting some extra features though, most notably: the Commander will return and we’ll get a third faction,

Leaked Battlefield 4 details:

This info comes from the same source who was the first to leak the Battlefield 4 artwork / teaser, and who was also spot on about EA releasing a teaser trailer. So we’re pretty confident in this information.

  • Battlefield 4 will stick with 64 players. Maps are larger and more detailed.
  • Three factions: US, Russia, and an unnamed “Eastern/Asian” faction.
  • 4 classes with “additional features and tweaks” compared to BF3
  • Shipping with same amount of maps as BF3, there are plans for lots of DLC.
  • DLC is already in planning stages.
  • Battlefield 4 Premium will be available on day one and include some perks.
  • Most of the guns and vehicles from BF3 will return.
  • More squad features.
  • Commander feature returns, but won’t be the same as in BF2
  • Battlefield 4 is coming out on both current and next gen systems, and PC as well.
  • Game is more of an evolution rather than revolution of the series. Both technically and gameplay wise.
  • Will ship with more game modes than BF3
  • Will ship with more close quarter infantry maps than BF3
  • Frostbite 2 engine is pushed further in BF4. Better effects, higher res textures, more detailed game worlds, etc.
  • BF3 will still be supported after Battlefield 4 launches.
  • There is plan of some sort of integration between BF3 and BF4. Could be Battlelog-only.
  • Battlelog will be updated for Battlefield 4 with more social features and more detailed stats.
  • Single-player and co-op will return, new writers involved this time.

We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out. Battlefield 4 will be unveiled on March 26.

Sharing is caring!

    Battlecopter 4, anyone?
High chance that BF4 will know 24/7 airrape again from OP airvehicles

Haha air vehicles aren’t OP, garbage lock on weapons are OP for pathetic babies that need a bad crutch because they are terrible; knowing how Dice likes to cater to bad scrubs we might as well call it Lockonfield 4

Haha, Lockonfield made me giggle =p
Having some lock-on weapons seems fair to me, but there shouldn’t be any air-to-air and ground-to-ground versions, that is even more so catering to novices.

Now thats a deep thought, really. Not!
Last I checked if you fly/use the helicopter right it is a hugh part of playing the objective. Objective doesnt mean camp out. What you state is no different then all the idiots that dont play the objective on the ground either.

Really? It’s the stingers and lock ons that were buffed. It’s so easy to take down choppers. And below radar and stealth don’t even work.

“When flying at low altitudes your heat signature is decreased, hiding you from enemy radar and preventing enemy {air-to-air missile systems} from locking onto you.”

Stingers and Iglas are SAM. Surface to Air.

        Surface. To. Air.

    March 19th, 2013 at 2:17 pm

All of these concern me and ill explain why.

“Most of the guns and vehicles from BF3 will return.”
“Commander feature returns, but won’t be the same as in BF2”
“Shipping with same amount of maps as BF3, there are plans for lots of DLC.”
“DLC is already in planning stages.”
“Battlefield 4 Premium will be available on day one and include some perks.”
“4 classes with “additional features and tweaks” compared to BF3”

#1: I don’t want this to be CoD (with no offence) I want brand new weapons or it will feel like the same game (Even if they add more guns). You said its more of a evolution than a revolution which down right scares me with the fact so many “Modern shooters” are out these days. And vehicles you cant really change assuming you are in the same time period in which i heard a rumor the time period would be near future (2020). If that’s true why cant they simply make up their own vehicles or certainly make them the same but different (?) (If that’s their plan then fine)

#2: “Wont be the same” this one really depends on how they change it but i can say that in bf2 we had alot more “Smart” people running around. With bf3 (No offence) Most people cant tell their butt from their face. I don’t want some butt plug being a commander.

#3 #4 #5: I don’t feel as though i should pay for a game without getting my moneys worth and with that being said i don’t feel for as easy they pop out maps that we should get so little in the base game. Give me 4 more maps with the base game and i would be happy. “Lots of dlc” “Already in planning” This goes in line with my first statement in this paragraph, If they already are planning DLC that means they clearly have some time on their hands so why not ship the game with more? Rather than less with more DLC (They want money, obviously). And lots of DLC means lots of money, forcing you to almost have to buy premium if you enjoy the game and assuming its available on day one im gonna be paying alot right out of the start for the game. “With some perks” Okay in what form though? Are we talking exclusive guns and such? If so it adds just another reason to coax you into premium which you Don’t know what you are buying you only know it will be these DLC’s. What if the maps are dreadful? That doesn’t mean premium is right for you it just means you got screwed a little for paying for something you didn’t want. Im kinda rambling but moral of these rumors are they want more and more money Which scares me because i Don’t want to pay so much for games when i already pay 60$. Also micro transactions even if they Don’t “Effect” the game it just adds more things to buy which means more money out of my pocket.

#6: This concerns me because of the unbalanced game-play we had right at the start of the game and other games in the series. More features could be great but i also don’t want this game to turn in to a series with just a bunch of “Camp fire strategies”. Just the other day had a tank with three engineer’s repairing and we couldn’t kill it because of the angle we couldn’t hit the engi’s. The more tweaks and features you add to the base classes the more complicated it gets along with harder to balance.

I guess the moral is i don’t want to pay out of the butt for games they already cost to much, It doesn’t seems its going to change enough to set it self apart from bf3 or the dozens of other modern day shooters, and It seems to be turning into a cash cow with out much change. I look forward to BF:BC3 (Because i find it more realistic and a much less forgiving game) and BF:2143 because it’s diffident than the dozens of “Modern day shooters” With that being said BF:4 is on my radar.

#1: There are only so many weapons and vehicles to put into the game, taking the DLC weapons into account I would say we already got enough weapons, there could be some more vehicles added though.

#3, 4, 5: I also fear that the Battlefield serie is going to be EA’s cashcow. I’m not going to pay 100 dollar/euro at launch for an incomplete game. 9 Maps on release is way too little, seeing the cost of the game.

#6: I sincerely hope that they will reconsider the current class system, Assault is too powerful (score wise) and the Recon class is practically pointless if you’re any bit concerned about winning the round. I would say separating the medic kit and defibrillator seems like a good move, and reintroduce the Medic class (which then has one of those 2 gagdets) and ditching Recon alltogether.

#3 Heck it’s the reason they stalled the MoH license

      • Twistablehornet
        March 23rd, 2013 at 10:35 am

#6 in BFBC2 the reason why they made the snipers so weak is they used to come in hordes. Snipers were REALLY POWERFUL!!! and the time for your bullet to hit the other guy was really short and you had little bullet drop.

I would also in addition to these comments to see a actual DARK MAP like where Tac. Flashlights are used other than blinding people i dont like the Intensely blue dark maps that DICE or EA gave us.

I think jets should be a tiny bit easier to kill since they have all that complicated engines. In real life if you get a piece of shrapnel in your engine your engine gets chewed up REALLY bad… And besides if your going over an objective making strafe runs and some one tries to lock on they are gone before you know it…

“This goes in line with my first statement in this paragraph, If they already are planning DLC that means they clearly have some time on their hands so why not ship the game with more? ”

Time costs money. If you want these to be in the base game then the base game will have to cost more.

Wait until Battlefield 5, I’m willing to bet they will allow 128p on pc only, with 64 being the default for next-gen consoles, which is totally fine by me seeing as how I’m used to having only 24p matches.

Oh and please don’t give me a lecture on why I need to go build a gaming pc, I don’t want to hear it.

Suppression is a cool idea, but I’m with you when you say removal of spread and recoil increase while under suppression.

Personally, I think suppression should be more realistic, eg: character camera shakes while being shot at, and if you reload you have a 20% chance of dropping your magazine.

This looks like an expansion pack, except they are charging full game costs for it and telling in advance that we will have to buy DLC with it later.

Maybe the next ‘new’ Battlefield will be a ‘new’ battlefield.

Also, I absolutely hate the modern shooters. There are good reasons to go for either 1943 or 2143.
1943: No lockon missiles, only skill-based weapons.
2143: You can invent all the weapons and balance them according to your needs.

An added advantage is that I might actually buy 1943 or 2143.

I want to follow up on 2 things! First off, do u guys think that ea/dice will confirm 64 players for PS4 of BF4? or they going to make excuses of why they couldnt do it again and will be a problem? and 2nd off, many people keep saying it will be a 2142 sequel in that kind of setting/environment which i hope to god its not! i want to know if it will be the style/setting like BF3? i believe with modern setting or BF3 style, it will be more successful series and more realistic of what battlefield really is and how it should be played!

5 things I did not like about Battlefield 3

    1. Defibrillators that can revive 10 + downed soldiers in less than 4 sec.
    2. Restocking M320 and frag grenades from ammo crates is very quick resulting in spam + ( ammo crates has to have a capacity ) or even maybe never restock them you have to die 1st
    3. Vehicles with unlimited ammo !! they have to go back to base to resupply
    4. Friendly fire should give -ve score…
    5. Reaching the final rank should be very hard to get and weapons unlock should take a longer time

  21. Phillip
    June 1st, 2013 at 9:03 am

I think DICE should scrap the stinger and igla for battefield 4 and replace them with the emplacements from battlefield 2, or atleast change there mechanics so you can’t just lock on and forget about it, you have to maintain the lock until the missile hits. It would make the missile launchers require more skill to use and pilots wouldn’t be constantly plagued by stimger locks, and would rely more on skill than flares to evade heatseekers

  22. eslan255
    June 10th, 2013 at 3:11 am

The changes I think would made the game a better experience would be the following:

*Grenades: being able to cook of course, being able to do an elliptical throw(close to buildings, rooftops, etc), trow them under cars or underneath 18wheelers onto the other side, throw them back at the enemy, shoot at them in the air, trow thru weak windows, only glow if you see the grenade otherwise noise would be only clue or any mate actually seeing the grenade can warned automatically, hitting enemies in the face would knock them on the floor(extra points for that), kicking grenade away, timing air explosions for greater damage, double hit on the jump button while running to jump out of the kill radius(action movie type), 15% blast radius safe distance from a grenade on the floor (for the benefit of going prone, actual fact), side effects (ear drum rupture, partial and temporary deafness, ringing) actual random trayectory of shrapnel(inside 10m diameter shrapnel radius) which creates random wounds even lethal ones if hit in the head, this would make you think twice about wearing protection: helmets, flak vests, bullet proof vests.

Protection: different levels of protection(helmets, kulaks and bullet proof vests). Helmets: only protect against shrapnel, ear drum rupturing blasts, slightly angled head shots, some falls and 9mm which still will knock you down.
Flak vests: Shrapnel and some shots of 9mm, which will make you stumble back.
Bullet proof vests: Will put you basically at the same level the game is right now( a few more shots to be killed). BP vest will only work medium to long range, close encounters will be defined by following factors:
    1-Who’s shooting first.(Main important factor)
    2-Caliber of bullets.
    3-Quantity of bullets landed.
4-Places where bullets lands(Center of chest, sides, shoulders, etc)
If death occurs by a minimum amount required, down soldier would have a last chance to shoot his gun from the floor before dying.
Any “brain” shot would be an automatic kill, a soldier on the floor with a shot jaw or cheek could still kill you if you don’t finish him(Depends on caliber again, a 9mm hollow point or a 7,62mm should be enough)

Of course, lack of any protection would affect slightly.

For randomness, as in real life, full magazines carried on chest pouches will stop up to 7,62mm, rendering them useless (This should be informed to enemy as “magazine hit”)

  23. Tyler
    June 10th, 2013 at 9:02 pm

Ok, this idea may be terrible but tell me what u think. Vehicles have limited ammo, but you can go back to your base and refill ammo by (lets say its a jet) landing on the runway

  24. eslan255
    June 11th, 2013 at 6:39 pm

@Tyler I think that’s a great idea, that would give us the option and opportunity of using a bigger and more powerful array of weaponry without getting to unbalanced.

For example: On an Attack Helicopter, you could carry armament like 2 pods of Hydra 70(14 rockets) and 2 pods of Hellfire missiles(8 Missiles) plus the 2 Sidewinders on the wing tips.

Just having 2 Sidewinders, would definitely change the way the game its played, making a pilot reconsider to either stay on the battlefield or go back and resupply even thou carrying an almost full payload. (More ahead about this ahead)

Hellfire missiles being fired only by the gunner. Hellfire missiles working thru a laser designator to any position the gunner wants in the battlefield. (which would obligate the pilot to better coordinate with gunner for successful shots)
Any tank hit by Hellfire would be automatically destroyed, tanks would have a way to protect against this for balance(more about this later on another post, Tanks)
2 types of Hellfire missiles, regular HEAT Antitank and a Bonus(obtain only thru achievements*) MAC (Metal Augmented charge, Thermobaric).

Option for the pilot of switching Hydra 70 for 2 pods of Zuni rockets(only 8 but more powerful)

Restricted amount of ammo on 30mm chain gun but with the power that it deserves, this would make the gunner think twice about shooting at everything he sees…

All this would make the attack chopper a mobile weapon to be feared in the battlefield but only for a certain amount of time due the need to go back to base and resupply and a different amount of damage being able to inflict on a helicopter, this would create randomness, reality, balance and even a new set of skill survivability, I will explain:

-The rotors on a chopper should be able to actually interact with the environment, either to hit buildings, poles, thereby wrecking the chopper if enough damage its acquired or even being able to chop tree branches and people(thus giving a good reward for that kind of kill).

-The pilots for choppers and jets, would be a class by itself, only armed with a handgun and maybe a small version of the M-16, if unlocked.
This would be HUGE in the way it would change the gameplay… It would almost eliminate the use of air vehicles as taxi and create more commitment in the game.

    – A tank shell should be able to destroy a helicopter instantly, except for a tail shot, this would just dismember the tail bringing the chopper down in a dramatic way, in the other hand, RPG’s aren’t that powerful in real life, they should do the damage they ACTUALLY do, which its a shaped charge: it basically creates a deep hole in the direction the RPG hits, thereby it wouldn’t be able to blow a heli out of the sky but depending where it hits, would be able to damage hydraulics, rotors, pilots, fuel tanks or nothing.. thereby affecting the heli respectively.

    – Of course, any ground soldier hitting a chopper with an RPG should get a little reward for that, regardless of damage to the chopper… Scaling up to even a medal or tag after many hits inflicted.

    – Pilots shouldn’t being able to “eject” from a heli, there’s only 1 type of chopper being able to do that (Kamov K-50), which I think it should be put into the franchise being only balanced by an APACHE, this would bring us the ARMY as a faction to play with, along with BlackHawks, AT-4, etc.
Back to the pilots… not being able to eject, they should crash land the heli dramatically and then get out and find a way back into friendly lines in order to change to another class, or steal weapons in the BF and fight.

    – Any pilots rescued and taken back to base by a Utility Helicopter should give that pilot a reward in points, escalating to a medal and dog-tag.

    – A chopper hit by a SAM should be affected depending on where’s hit, for instance: if hit on the side wing, maybe it should lose a weapon pod or even the whole wing without affecting flying capabilities, that way if you see a SAM or a RPG coming straight on at you, you could swing the heli so it would it somewhere else. Only small fires should be able to being repaired(on the actual damaged part) by a pilot with an small extinguisher.

    – Full graphic on pilots getting out and in of a helicopter for repair, including opening of the bullet proof canopy(most attack helis has them, so no sniping unless you got a .50) This way pilots would have to land in a safe zone or risking being exposed.

-The visual damage on a vehicle shouldn’t change, so if a pilot “fix” a heli fire, you should still be able to see all the damage done by the missile or flak.

    – Accumulative damage on rotors(main and back), being actually felt by the pilot or player on the controller and flying capabilities, finalizing with such rotor being “out of service”, followed by an epic crash.

    – Any great damage on the back rotor should bring the heli down in the way we all know it would happened: spinning around and horribly crashing, except by a skilled crash land by a superb pilot.

    – 20mm damage from a jet or 30mm from a heli should do a little Nerf down realistic damage.

    – Any flying rotor part(lets say after a crash) should do GREAT damage. With that being said: anybody, friend or foe should run if a plane or a heli its coming down, especially jets due fuel tanks spilling all over the place.

    – Reality would make the game more difficult and some would say more boring(I think it would get just more technical and skill based) but some “extras” could add more fun like being able to pull some stunts out of certain movies, like shoot at cables to snares low flying choppers, timing grenade explosion to kill pilots, making gas tanks explode below a low flying chopper engulfing it in flames, blowing or running over fire hydrants to hit helis on top of it causing different types of effects depending if hit by the hydrants itself or by the water, etc. Great rewards for those.

    – Most choppers have special blades installed on top and below the canopy to cut hanging cables while flying low, these should be able to use in the game to avoid getting snared, any soldier killed by electrocution should reward greatly the pilot leading to a dog-tag.

    – All bases should be protected by computer manned AA guns at Low-Medium level, not just 1, at least 3 to create immersion in the BF(you should be able to see the “line of fire” coming at you, WW2 type.
This would avoid or at least make difficult for the enemy to try to “rape” a base.

-Stinger and Iglas(SAM): being a heavy equipment(34lb for a Stinger with a missile), engineers should only carry 1 missile maybe 2 at the expense of being heavy, slow and without much carrying space for other stuff.
SAM’s crates(1 launcher, 2 missiles) should be around in the BF in certain hidden but realistic places, like in the rooftop of some military building, or the back of a Humvee. Anyone should be able to fired this “hidden treasures”.
SAM’s amount should be regulated on each sides, so lets say in a 32 people side, that’s 8 squads, there should be only 8 SAM’s plus the hidden caches at any given time. This would regulate the game to avoid swarms of SAM soldiers…

Quit bitching about the gameplay. It is simple, if u dont like it dont buy it. Crying about the realistic aspects of the game. The only thing that would make it better, is having to shoot someone less than ten times to get a kill. More realism please.

Nobody it’s bitching about the game, we all love that game and that’s the reason why we are here writing about it.
Like everything else, there is plenty of room for improvement and maybe in the future some of this ideas we all got here may show up in upcoming games.

    June 26th, 2013 at 12:47 am

@eslan255…some great ideas there, pilots would be great, and no ehection for helis..and balance sams out somehow too.

RPG’s are powerfull in real any vietnam or gulf war 2 book..they shred infantry joes, and kill light armour, even MBTs cant rest easy. A direct hit on a chopper would be catastrophic..but conversely, the back blast when you fire an RPG is also maybe include that in game to..could stop rocket spam?
