New info on the .50 cal sniper rifle and range finder in Battlefield 4

12
New video sheds more details on the .50 cal M82 sniper rifle and the new range finder accessory.

Battlefield 4 will feature one of the most powerful weapons ever made, the M82 sniper rifle. The new weapon will be a “Battle Pickup” gun, meaning that it can only be found at selects spots on the map, and cannot be equipped as a standard rifle. Which makes sense with the M82, since it will be a one-hit kill (to the chest) — the only one hit kill rifle in the game.

A new Battlefield 4 video shows some new gameplay with the .50 cal semi auto sniper rifle, and it shows just how powerful it is, confirming the one-hit kill power. Additionally, the video shows the new rangefinder accessory in action. Players use the range finder to estimate the range to target, where after the scope ca be set to that particular distance. This will make it much easier for long range sniper rifles to hit their targets. While this is a big aid to snipers in the game, it’s not perfect — the scope can be reset only in 100 meter increments.

In addition to the M82, other Battlefield 4 Battle Picup weapons include the USAS-12 fully automatic shotgun, and the M32 MGL grenade launcher. One interesting note about the battle pickup weapons is that once they’re out of ammo, players will drop the weapons and revert to their primary rifle. You cannot resupply battle pickup guns, nor can you switch between your primary weapon and the battle pickup weapon.

Really bad idea to have pickup weapons spawning in the same place all the time now all we will get is players running for the best weapons and camping near them till they re-spawn brilliant idea Dice NOT!!!!!!

But think about it. If everyone knows where the .50 cal is, then that’s where all the counter snipers know to look. The real trouble will come from teamwork. When say, a pilot drops someone off up there to grab a ..50 and then puts him somewhere else where no one knows to look. That’s when the power of this thing will be seen, and im all for it. Imagine that thing overlooking an objective on obliteration. Snipers might actually be half useful now.

Vehicles spawning in the same place, flags in same place,… Great idea by Dice? This is just whining for the sake of whining I presume? You can comment on any gameplay addition they add.

      Well my answer to you:

      – server filter
      – battle pickups have limited ammo and cannot be resupplied

      Brilliant idea by Dice? SURE!

I only play Hardcore mode on Xbox360 and pretty much any bolt-action is a one-shot kill for those scumbag snipers

I can see really hating the M82, sniper dirtbags will cower to it every chance they get. But on the other hand I will be looking around for the M32 auto nade launcher to counter snipers.

M82A1A all day! I remember this rifle in SOCOM. It wasn’t a stupid ass pickup weapon though! It was a customizable loadout.
