New Battlefield 4 patch released, Second Assault lands on Feb 18

A brand new patch has been released, fixing the dreaded sound issues.

battlefield 4 patch and DLC

As expected, DICE has released another Battlefield 4 patch for the PC platform. The new patch includes a dozen or so fixes and improvements, and it appears the patch also has a fix for the sound issue that was introduced with the previous patch.

The new Battlefield 4 patch also has some fixes for the new Mantle update, which is an API update for AMD graphics cards. The patch is available for download now and weighs in at 400 MB. You can find the full patch release notes below:

-General stability improvements
-Fix for an issue where spawning into, or switching to, a gunner seat in an IFV/MBT sometimes could cause the game to crash
-Fix for missing sound in Team/Squad Deathmatch
-Fix for an issue in the Defuse game mode, where a bomb carrier would be permanently spotted
-Decreased the rate at which the kill card would incorrectly display 0 health, while the enemy was clearly alive
-Fix for an invisible wall that was incorrectly present in one of the fallen concrete pipes on Zavod 311
-Fix for an issue where bullet impact sounds weren’t properly matching the actual number of impacts
-Fix for an issue where the “Draw” message would not display on-screen once a Conquest round ended with both teams having the same amount of tickets
-Fix for an issue where long IDs wouldn’t scroll on dog tags
-Fix for missing grass physics in terrain

In addition to the patch, DICE also confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield 4 Second Assault DLC will launch on February 18th for Premium members, and two weeks later for everyone else.

Sharing is caring!

Well, I just hope they won’t do another lazy port from BF3 in case of weapons… I would love to see some guns which are REALLY new to the series, or at least ones that weren’t in the series for a long time ex. MP5, Desert Eagle, XM8, TOZ-194, HK21

I’m still crying for the KRISS to be in a battlefield game.

Deagle will never be added. It’s a powerhouse of a pistol, and while it lacks range capabilities, it would absolutely dominate people up close.

Just a question of balancing. Magnum is the most powerful gun in the world, but still.

This patch works great for me. No more CPU spikes using Mantle with my 280X. I can run ultra settings, HBAO on, 2x AA and get smooth, high fps on every map. Good job this time DICE!

Unfortunately until they fix the real issues, no amount of this crap is going to make me come back and play. I tried loading it up and playing a few rounds after being gone for a month, and within 10 minutes i remembered why i stopped playing the first place. The “netcode” is effing terrible. They need to increase the tick rate, and they need to just completely remove lag compensation from the game.

There is no reason they should be introducing things that benefit people with 200-300 pings when 90% of the developed world has access to high speed/low latency internet.

They’re screwing over 80-90% of their playerbase so the 10-20% with shitty comps and/or pings can have a better experience, its absurd.

^ So true…from what I’ve heard about that too at least.

There is lag compensation in EVERY online multiplayer game. It’s always necessary to have lag compensation in every situation. DICE just needs to better optimize it. And from what I’ve heard, it’s more of a server issue with the tick rate than a player issue.

The sound bug is not fixed, just had it happen a few min ago in a round. Titanfall can’t come out fast enough and The Division and GTA 5 for PC..

Lucky this time… I can’t understand why but beyond expectations, the game is running better on my side since last patch. Well, that said, lag problem is still persistent and really annoying : you shoot the ennemi, you quickly find shelter behind a wall and then you get hit, hit, hit (!!!)… and finally you die ! Maybe we can call that “ghost shells”. Still incredible. I am doubtfull that they can fix that majour issue one day. Besides, even if things seems better, EA can keep all addons. Enough for me.

I thought I should point out something here.

On Battlelog, it says Second Assault is coming in 4 hours, but the release date is the 18th.

Since Second Assault came out i haven’t been able to play for more than 5 minutes untill “battlefield 4 has stopped working”. I just love to wait for patches…you just know that you won’t be able to play the game for atleast a week after all of them.

This method FIXED my crashing on every Second Assault map problem..

    Close Origin.

    Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\Update\ amd delete Xpack0 folder

Re open Origin and Download Second Assault Again…

    This fixed my crashing problem.

    Good luck!

    Hope it helps, ya dingus!
