Review – Lawn Mowing Simulator

Source: instant-gaming.com

Lawn mowing is one of those jobs that seems to get more and more complex with the passage of time. If you’ve ever found yourself cursing the fact that you can’t get the grass to grow faster, you’ll be glad to hear that you can help make the job easier with the Lawn Mowing Simulator. Developed by a hobbyist with a love for mowing grass, the program is a simple but effective tool that lets you simulate your own lawn mowing job, down to the finest of details.

Grass grows, and mowers cut it. Grass grows, and mowers cut it. Grass grows, and mowers cut it. Grass grows, and mowers cut it. Grass grows, and mowers cut it. Grass grows, and mowers cut it. “Lawn Mowing Simulator” is a fun and easy to play game that simulates the experience of mowing the lawn. The game was created by a Singapore-based programmer named “haha”… The game is a simulation of mowing the lawn. In the game, you get to play as a mowing machine (a lawn mower). You need to mow the lawns in a certain time. You can also customize your lawn mower with different engines, to make the mowing faster or slower. Besides, you can start the game with the computer-controlled mower, which automatically mows the lawn.

I’ll be honest with you right away and tell you that this isn’t the review for you if you’re hoping for a really comprehensive evaluation from someone with genuine landscaping expertise. I don’t even have a lawn to maintain right now since I live in an area where the HOA takes care of it. I did, however, mow a lot of lawns when I was younger, using everything from reel lawn mowers to powered lawn mowers. I’ve never used any of the game’s behemoths, but I conducted some research to see whether my concerns were due to my lack of expertise or if Lawn Mowing Simulator was lacking in the mimicking department.

I usually give a short explanation of the game’s concept and narrative setting at this point, but I believe you get the idea. You’ll be mowing lawns throughout the countryside of the United Kingdom, either for pleasure or to expand your company. There’s a Career level, challenges, and a Free Mow mode for times you don’t want to worry about being paid. Lawn Mowing Simulator comes with thirty-one maps and a dozen licensed mowers from some of the most well-known manufacturers.

Create your own corporation and expand your operations.

Career mode allows you to create and run your own lawn mowing business, complete with a name, logo, and color scheme. You begin with a simple configuration that includes one mower and a single bay of storage for that mower. The storage facility can be expanded to add additional bays, but if you need to store more lawn mowers in the future, you’ll have to purchase a whole new structure. This becomes necessary when you begin to establish a reputation as a trustworthy business, and as you do so, individuals will apply to work with you.

Building your reputation entails fulfilling contracts with as little penalties as possible, as well as advertising. On your additional lawn mowers, you’ll eventually be able to recruit workers to perform other tasks for you. Your workers may also be trained in time management, accuracy, and vehicle management, making them much more dependable on contracts. As your reputation level rises, you’ll be able to take on new tasks that get more challenging as you go.

Make sure the grass is kept at a specified height.

Let’s get down to business with the gameplay’s real functions. Each contract will specify the average height of the grass as well as the length the owner desires. There are suggested deck widths for each lawn, but you may disregard them if you don’t mind finishing Adam’s Apple Orchard in sixty-two minutes instead of the recommended thirty. Then, when you’re at 99.7% complete, you run out of gas and are trapped on your mower for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get off it since the game never informs you that. Yes, something similar occurred to me. Yes, I discovered that by holding down the “B” key for a few seconds, you may exit the vehicle and replenish the tank (thank you random Reddit user).

Anyway, after you begin your contract, you must do a ground check, which is racing around the area picking up and destroying any items that may be in your way. Newspapers, toys, garden equipment, and garden gnomes are among them. If you don’t do this, you’ll face penalties, although to be honest, the fines aren’t really effective deterrents. It’s now time to get on your mower, switch it on, increase the RPMs, lower the cutting deck, and get going.

A ground check will save you some money, but it isn’t required.

It’s time for you to perform your job after the mower has started doing its job. Simply control the speed with the right trigger to avoid bogging down the engine, and stay clear from plants and furniture. You’ll get a choppy cut or the mower may stop if you bog down the engine by trying to run too quickly through thick grass. This is where some of my complaints start. On the smaller mowers, I understood stalling, bogging down, and even needing to constantly regulate speed. However, I put money aside and purchased the STIGA Park Pro 540 IX. In actual life, this thing is a beast, and it’s still giving me fits on some of these cuts.

Now that I’ve done some research on this, I’ve discovered that Lawn Mowing Simulator doesn’t have nearly as many features as this item does. There is no RPM control, no speed control (which might assist with the vexing trigger finger adjustment), and so many attachments that made me wonder, “why aren’t these items included in game?” It comes with a leaf collector or shredder, a hydraulic rake, brush cutting, seeding spreader, and much more. Some of the mowers in the game come with a limited number of accessories for striping and collecting mulch, but nothing too complicated.

Lawn Mowing Simulator has its moments of brilliance.

I understand it’s named Lawn Mowing Simulator rather than Landscaper Simulator, but to whom are you paying hundreds or thousands of pounds for a short mow? I believe it would have gone a long way if there was more in-depth gaming here. Maintenance of the lawn, with the use of edge trimmers, weed eaters, and other tools, would go a long way toward keeping contracts more engaged.

Lawn Mowing Simulator’s visuals are a bit of a mixed bag. The lawn mower models are very well-made, with many features that are true to their real-world equivalents. They all handle differently, which serves to give each one its own distinct feel. The mowers are unquestionably the show’s stars, as they should be. But what good is a lawn mower if there isn’t a grass to mow? The stages are well planned out, and they depict each individual blade of grass, which may look fantastic with the proper lighting.

Unfortunately, there are major framerate problems, low-quality environments, a draw distance that doesn’t even span the whole length of the grass, and detail pop-ins that occur very close to the player. Not to add that the character models you get to choose for the business aren’t exactly attractive. There will also be no grass mess on the lawn or on the mower’s tires, and not a single leaf will be in the area.

You’ll get your contract results, which will include the different statistics and penalties you got.

Because there isn’t much to sound design, I find it difficult to evaluate it. The main menu features a pleasant, welcoming kind of generic lobby type music, however there is no soundtrack throughout the game. You’ll mostly be listening to the mower’s motor, which may change when it bogs down or backs up. Each mower has its own distinct sound, which is pleasant, and the background noises of birds singing and vehicles passing by are enough.

Lawn Mower Simulator turned out to be less than I had anticipated. I was hoping for a complete simulator with realistic movements for these beautifully made mowers. It’s a shame that more might have been done with the overall gameplay, as well as the aesthetic and framerate departments. However, it performs well for what it is intended to accomplish. Mowing may be soothing at times, but I found it more irritating than therapeutic because of the unpleasant engine throttling and lack of speed control.

While the lawn mowers are accurate representations of the real-life machines, the character models, draw distance, and pop-ins are not. The process of mowing and forming a business with workers works well in general, however there are many missing features and annoyances.
There’s not much to say here except that the lawn mowers sound genuine and the menu music is there. Birdsong and passing vehicles are acceptable background sounds. With a complete career mode, challenges, and a free mow, there is enough of stuff to enjoy. However, I found that the game was more irritating than pleasant at times.
Final Score: 5.5

Look at them!

In the land of simulators, you would think that all of them would be about the same. Some focus primarily on the various vehicles that can be used, while others tend to concentrate on the cockpit view. However, Lawn Mowing Simulator, developed by Duck Dynasty Game Studios, does not provide you with the typical cockpit view of most simulators. Instead, this sim focuses primarily on the task at hand: mowing the grass. Or, at least, it will when it is officially released. Until then, it is a demo of sorts, with a few features to keep you interested.. Read more about lawn mowing simulator | xbox one and let us know what you think.
