Battlefield 4 singleplayer

Battlefield 4 singleplayerThe Battlefield 4 singleplayer campaign will focus more on player freedom compared to the previous campaign. This time, the singleplayer will resemble more like Bad Company, where players get an objective and are free to chose how to attack it.

The Battlefield 4 singleplayer campaign will still feature quick-time and scripted events. However, they will be featured to a much lesser degree than last time. Unlike its predecessor, the game will not feature co-op, which was a separate campaign where two players could play together. Some of the singleplayer locations will be featured as Battlefield 4 multiplayer maps.

Battlefield 4 singleplayer features

Unlike last time, the Battlefield 4 singleplayer will follow a single soldier throughout the entire campaign. The player will be part of an elite squad, tackling missions around the world. The story features several locations around the world, including Azerbaijan, China, and North America. The plot is centered around a rogue Chinese General and, like always, the Russians are involved as well.

Battlefield 4 singleplayer missions

Some of the Battlefield 4 singleplayer missions were unveiled (as seen in the video below). Here’s a complete breakdown of all the missions from the campaign. Note that some missions unlock weapons that can be used in multiplayer.

  • Fishing in Baku (weapon unlock: MP412 REX)
  • Shanghai
  • South China Sea
  • Singapore
  • Kunlun Mountains (unlock: Shank knife)
  • Tashgar (unlock: Machete)
  • Suez

Other weapon unlocks in the campaign include the M249, the P90, and the QBZ-95.

Battlefield 4 singleplayer videos and screenshots

The very first Battlefield 4 singleplayer video shows off several missions in the beginning of the campaign. The player finds himself stuck in a sinking car in a lake, and later we see how we arrived at that point.

The video shows several locations from the Battlefield 4 singleplayer campaign, including wide open deserts with construction going on, to abandoned warehouses, to a dense city, and more. Check out the full video below, followed by some screenshots.

Check out this gallery of Battlefield 4 singleplayer screenshots, taken from the various missions the campaign has to offer:

Are there names to be matched with characters yet? Because I know, that no DEV’s have publicly announced any character names/titles(Besides their call-sign for missions IE-Rucker, Irish, and the other two dudes who’s names I forgot).

I hope the singleplayer campagin allows the player to select weapons and attachments on missions to further excel player freedom in designing loadouts to fit their plan of attack.

All I want to see are pistols in the campaign.

Just something that annoyed the crap out of me.

What I would like to see for multiplayer is ANY .50 cal sniper rifle or even a 20mm Anzio sniper rifle.

That would be a game changer indeed! DICE should add anti-material rifles to Battlefield 4.

Is this single player, like single player in BF2 — choose a map and start playing against other ai-soldiers, where you can be a soldier, squad leader or commander? I love BF2 single-player mode (never bothered going for online play) and still play it once in awhile with EA and custom addon maps.

The BF4 ‘single player’ (campaign) is the same crap found in BF3. There are no open ai to play against. Instead you still just have to follow along a narrowly defined path, and do pretty much whatever the designers decided you should do. Oh, and you MUST be online to play. Even for “campaign” mode. They even tossed in a bunch of crappy movielets for you to watch that add absolutely NO value to the game. Biggest difference I found between this and BF3, graphics are worse and HUGE delays between saves. Back to BF2 for me, I’ve had it with this crappo game and the continued BF series. If I’d wanted to follow a predefined trail instead of playing on a wide open map, I’d just have downloaded or played “Call of Duty” instead. Same crappy restrictions, same bad “game play”. Oh, and there is no “LAN” play. You want a LAN party, be prepared to give up some serious bandwidth because EVERYONE has to be “On the Internet” to play. Meh.

You don’t have to be online to be able to play the campaign. I played and beat single player campaign without any internet connection.

In my honest opinion, this game isn’t worth it – Specially how long the campaign is :/

Not really a fan to playing online, as you get these bunch of no-lifers on it, and not only that but my PC has a spass attack now and then (Need a better CPU) lol.

Despite all the fanciness, single player in this game gets pretty damn annoying. Here’s why:
    – There’s a number of hitbox bugs where it just seems impossible to hit your target.
    – Quite frequently you get hit by enemies through supposedly impenetrable cover, such as hills, which gets extremely frustrating.
    – Glitching area cross-overs; this happened to me in mission 6 for example. All of a sudden troops started falling out of the air and I was able to crouch and look under buildings.
    – Vehicle movement is terrible (despite catterpillar tracks tanks seem to get stuck on every single rock, leaving most tank vs. tank shoot-outs to just be click-and-hope-you-hit-guy-first)
    – Team mate physics. This another interesting feature where AI team mates just push you out of cover whilst running by.
    – The game crashes during loading events.

Since teammates cannot die, there is a very obvious total focus on you by enemies. This manifests in:
    – Grenades falling out of the sky on top of you while you are sniping from afar and your team mates are 50 metres in front of you.
    – Enemy tanks orbiting a building knowing your exact location in the building.
    – AI team mates tripping aggro which causes enemies to fire on you in your hidden location straight after.
This leads to a very unrealistic feeling and really forces a certain AI focused style of gameplay.

Dude cool down you did no big feat its a freaking video game.. A freaking child could play this GAME its so unrealistic is not even funny. It has NO AI to speak off, its on rails and you soak bullets like a sponge. I don’t play games tho my kid does and even he hates all these console ported games for the PC. COD, MW and BF etc etc . Hell they all look and play the same. Unlike say Arma 2-3 which my kid loves.

I was in the military for over 7yrs (3 deploy’s) still in the reserves and work in Fed Le as a pilot. And watching my gal yes my 14yr old daughter who plays only on the hardest levels as she says its way too easy if you don’t. So hey chill bud beating these games are NO big deal. A simulator like Arma that’s a whole other story and from what Ive seen no other game even comes close to ARMA.

Even tho NO game will ever come close to real time in the service nor will airsofting haha I saw a video of COD ghosts and saw why some airsoft vids have kids lighting off strobes etc. Oh man if ya did that in real life you would lite up your whole squad and probably get yourself killed. So now I see the world of gaming and airsofting go hand in hand. Both unrealistic even for home defense or in shooting real guns in general. None is like the real thing. Btw my kid competes in pistol competitions and she’s pretty good with Sig as one of her sponsors.

Yeah it’s a fix dice is working on right now. A patch should be released sometime tin December. It’s kinda bull shirt how they would release a game with so many bugs. Sounds just like arma 3. But I guess it’s all about the $$$$$$$$$ those fascist assholes

It annoys me how they couldn’t have kept it the same as the older ones cause I prefer to play offline and I felt with the 3rd one was like playing call of duty

You shouldn’t be playing Battlefield if you don’t want to play it Online.

BF has butchered all forms of Solo play, whether it be bots or a scripted campaign, There are no bots in BF4, And the campaign is painfully, laughably bad.

Between how Bad and pointless the SP was, and how much I dislike the MP, As well as everyone getting banned for ****-all on MP, I actually bought Call of Duty when I swore I wouldn’t. At least I can enjoy a casual shooter to take at my own pace. The SP will be cheesy, but at least unique and somewhat enjoyable. and if the MP is crap, there is still bots. Something battlefield hasnt’ had since BF2142.

    December 10th, 2013 at 10:45 pm

Ok guys, lay off it. The campaign was never meant to be anything better than crap. The only reason to play the campaign is for the guns at the end. YES, the game is full of bugs still, and YES the campaign is HORRIBLE, but it has NOTHING to do with why the game is full of bugs. If you want, don’t play the game for a while and wait for the bugs to be worked out. It’s still a GREAT game, and will only get better when they do fix it.

    • yeah...but
      April 4th, 2014 at 1:52 pm

Negative! If it’s okay for them to charge up the ass for this game then you’d better believe that people are going to be upset when developers get lazy about it and they have a right to be upset. Especially since the bugs are MAJOR. No one wants to start over from the beginning of campaign mode when they’re already almost to the end. That’s a big F U to every customer who buys the game. It wasn’t ready to be released and shouldn’t have been released. EA screwed Need for Speed Rivals up the same way, game isn’t even playable.

Seriously I agree. I do not know why everyone has to bitch, I liked the campaign. It was fun, had a cool story line, and the dev’s weren’t lazy. A lot of people have no idea how much work goes into a game like this. I wish they would make another BFBC though. I do miss that series. BFBC3, its time.

I enjoyed the campaign, the only problem was that it kept resetting itself and the health regeneration bug. The multiplayer is amazing and has far better features than bf3. Battlefield was never known for its campaign anyway. Call of duty is terrible and died at cod 4.

I am disappointed. I don’t care for “on line” gaming … too many people with bad attitudes and too much time on their hands. Single player games was too scripted and way too short. Wish I could get my money back.

  25. Max
    January 10th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

This game *needs* to ship with a single player campaign, because otherwise in a few years when the multiplayer game servers are taken down the game wouldn’t function at all…

IMO the single player is too easy, enemies take cover with their heads still showing and they treat thrown grenades like free candy.

  26. Aidan
    January 11th, 2014 at 1:13 am

If you don’t like the game, why are you playing it? I play it on the 360 and it may have a few bugs, but overall it is a great game! The only thing I didn’t like is the length of the campaign, and I haven’t been able to get on multiplayer yet. Even now I found BF1942 to still be fun, and BF2 I play a lot, but if you don’t like BF4, go play crappy CoD!

Better campaigns, than in BF3. But linearity is minus compared to choosing possibility in BF4. Kulun mountains was tidious. And in Baku I had to see video to know what to do in the end. After it I passed the jeep driving very easily. Before – totally lost.

At the moment only thing that really bugs in BF4 (Xbox360) is the difficulty of getting Jet Fighter Ribbons. DICE has propably not considered, that 1/2 of enemies means 1/2 points/kills, also. Lack of JFR:s is preventing getting UCAV in my hands. And I have completed the requirements to Airburst, already (except UCAV kills, naturally).

  30. RotorHead

Anyone know if there is a way to add a suppressor to your guns in single player campaign mode? Seems dumb non are and why are all but one sniper rifle bolt guns? Not showing off now but I’m 40+ yr gun collector and won’t say exactly how much or what but in included antiques, rare, classic to modern and class 3 weapons like SBR’s, select fire, and suppressors.

And just want to comment none of these game guns shoot like the real things, I know you can’t feel etc I talking power etc The Bizon,P90 (I own the PS90 or civilian model that I SBR’ed to look like a P90) and Mp7 are crap at distance as a Fed Leo Ive shot these weapons before and their only good for 100 yards at most and you gotta shoot em a lot as their rounds are so small. I own 4 SCAR’s 2 16’s and 2 17’s and hate em the stocks are weak and break easily so I like my ACR’s better. But its funny to see BF4 make faux versions of current guns like the Tavor or DSA’s OSW’s both of which I own as well.

Pardon the rant but again closet Ive seen to gun modeling was ARMA 2-3. But no game will teach you to shoot a real gun. Even Airsoft tho comes close and you can practice reload and malfunction drills does not really prepare you to fire real guns unless you are a experienced shooter 1st. So wish these games come out with new ideas as it seems their rehashing the same game year after year and charging more year after year.

    • yeah...but
      April 4th, 2014 at 2:06 pm

What does this have to do with battlefield? It’s not a simulator. Your role in the game is that of an elite special forces soldier, they want us to feel like we’re the Shit for being able to shoot a p90 that far and give us the feeling of controlling an elite. Maybe YOU cant accurately shoot a p90 that far, but in this game (which is not real life) our elite special forces soldier is just that good. Please dont complain about the fact that this game has a few unrealistic features. I really don’t want the next battlefield to be some stupid simulator.

    • yeah...but
      April 4th, 2014 at 2:10 pm

I don’t think people generally play videogames with the intention of learning how to shoot a real gun.

I bought this game to play offline because I’m stuck in a place without internet for awhile. I have the install disks, but it asks me log in on the internet. It doesn’t say that I have to log on to the internet on the packaging. I wasted hours messing with this. I bet the pirated version would have worked. What a bunch of bullshit.
